1. Holiday tradition returns to Indiana Repertory Theatre

Celebrate the season with one of Indianapolis’ favorite holiday traditions at the Indiana Repertory Theatre (IRT). Eli Lilly & Company presents Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol adapted by Tom Haas Nov. 17 through Dec. 26. The spirits of Christmas bring new life to Ebenezer Scrooge in his journey from dark night of the soul to bright joyous morning as the IRT celebrates this timeless classic. 

2. A very Phoenix X-Mas

Join the Phoenix family Nov. 23 – Dec. 23 for A Very Phoenix Xmas 13: Merry Superstitious. This anything-but-traditional holiday show is the sketch comedy/cabaret/variety hour you never knew you needed. 

3. Music of the Holidays

Get into the holiday spirit by listening to local school and community choirs, bands, ensembles and soloists perform holiday music in the Indiana State Museum’s Great Hall, surrounded by festive decorations and atmosphere. Hear the music of the season in this spectacular holiday atmosphere free of charge. Holiday sounds is offered Dec. 2 – 16, 10:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., Monday through Friday; 12:15 to 3 p.m. Saturday & Sunday.

4. Broadway Comes to Indy 

Old National Centre plays host to multiple Broadway in Indianapolis productions this holiday season, including How the Grinch Stole Christmas, The Musical, which runs Nov. 27 – Dec. 2. Tickets to School of Rock: The Musical and Waitress, playing early in 2019, would also make the perfect holiday gifts.

5. IPL Yuletide Celebration

The Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra and conductor Jack Everly are joined by beloved hosts Josh Kaufman and Angela Brown for the IPL Yuletide Celebration Nov. 30 – Dec. 23.  Watch as the stage comes alive with tap-dancing Santas and other surprises at Hilbert Circle Theatre. Don’t miss Indiana’s own dancing group, Expressenz, as they join the cast to perform holiday favorites.

6. See Elf, It’s a Wonderful Life & Christmas Vacation

Witness timeless holiday classics as Downtown Indy, Inc. partners with the Athenaeum Foundation and Indy Film Fest for Festive Films. Enjoy three holiday movies at the Athenaeum’s Basile Theater on three Mondays in December at 7 p.m. Tickets to each show are $10 and proceeds benefit Downtown holiday décor and the Athenaeum Foundation. 7. Celebrate the season with Indiana Landmarks

Join Indiana Landmarks for its annual The Holly & The Ivy Holiday Concert Dec. 13 at 7:30 p.m. The organ concert features traditional and contemporary holiday music performed on the restored 1892 Grand Hall organ, joined by piano, handbells and professional singers. The concert ends with an audience sing-a-long.

8. Holiday at the Cabaret

This holiday season The Cabaret welcomes Tony Award-nominee, Norm Lewis, as he rings in the holiday season with his unique spins on classic holiday songs. He is one of the most sought men on Broadway for his extraordinary performances. Head to The Cabaret Dec. 14, 15 & 16 for shows at 7 & 8 p.m. both nights.

9. Fun at the Fieldhouse

The Trans-Siberian Orchestra celebrates its 20th year touring with “The Ghosts of Christmas Eve” Dec. 5. The WZPL Jingle Jam featuring The Chainsmokers and David Guetta is slated for Dec. 11, while world-famous pop star Justin Timberlake makes an appearance at Bankers Life Fieldhouse Dec. 14. The annual Crossroads Classic takes over Dec. 15 for Indiana college basketball fun: Indiana vs. Butler and Purdue vs. Notre Dame. End the year with the Indianapolis Pacers vs. Detroit Dec. 28 and vs. Atlanta Dec. 31.

10. Holidays at the Scottish Rite

Listen to beautiful holiday music with the free Scottish Rite Cathedral Annual Winter Concert Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. The concert features choral and orchestral performances.

11. Holiday shows at Old National Centre

Catch some great shows this season. 98 Degrees at Christmas will be gearing up to for a Nov. 25 show.  Catch the Hip Hop Nutcracker, contemporary dance spectacle, Dec. 7. Hear John Legend – A legendary Christmas Dec. 10. Indianapolis Ballet will perform The Nutcracker Dec. 14 – 16. Indiana University’s famed a cappella group Straight No Chaser returns Dec. 21 – 23. Moscow Ballet’s Great Russian Nutcracker is Dec. 24. End the year with the family at Paw Patrol Live! Dec. 29 & 30.

12. Twas the Night Before with the Harrisons

Have a LIVE! Family Christmas Dec. 1 with the Harrisons. Next, join Candlelight Theatre for its popular holiday performance of ‘Twas the Night Before at the Benjamin Harrison Presidential Site. Playing Dec. 13 – 16, the show will include beloved characters from holiday lore and introduce new friends.
