Want to experience Downtown Indy’s newest, most Instagrammable spot?  Come down to Bicentennial Unity Plaza for one of opening weekend’s free public events!

Pacers Sports & Entertainment and the Capital Improvement Board are excited to announce Bicentennial Unity Plaza officially opens to the public with four days of free events Aug. 24-27! 

The Plaza, connected to Gainbridge Fieldhouse to the north, features interactive, must-see public art; a basketball court that converts to a skating rink in the winter; and programmable green spaces perfect for gathering, having a bite to eat with a friend, or just enjoying some sunshine against the backdrop of Indy’s impressive skyline.

Bicentennial Unity Plaza opens officially on Thursday morning with a special ribbon-cutting at 10 a.m., and guests are free to experience it immediately afterward. A full weekend of events will follow, with activities for visitors of all ages showcasing the diverse uses of this incredible Downtown asset.

Indiana Fever Pre-Game Party

Live music, games, giveaways, face painters, balloon artists, and more will be available for guests of all ages. Food and beverages will be available for purchase. No ticket is required for entry.

Thursday, August 24 – 5-7 p.m.


Happy Hour on the Plaza

Eat, drink, and dribble with live music from DJ Todd & DJ Space Bunz, games, cocktails, and complimentary small bites from Indy’s top chefs, while supplies last. 

Friday, August 25 – 5-9 p.m. 


Indy Night Market on the Plaza

Through a collaboration with Be Nimble Foundation, this evening event brings to life Indy’s food, arts, and culture scenes. The night will include farmers, restaurants, chefs, and food entrepreneurs. In celebration of Black Business Month, we will focus on Black-owned businesses, restaurants, and food entrepreneurs, as well as renowned chefs from the Pacers Sports & Entertainment Guest Chef Program.

Saturday, August 26 – 5-10 p.m.


JR. HOOPS Mini Clinic

This free clinic is open to kids ages 6-14 looking to learn the fundamentals of basketball and enjoy an afternoon playing hoops with special guests.

Sunday, August 27 – 1-3 p.m.

Love of the Game

Enjoy basketball-themed face painting, crafts, and coloring stations, as well as inflatables, a bounce house, photo booths, and giveaways. Food and beverages will be available for purchase.

Sunday, August 27 – 1-5 p.m.
