Cezanne and Sensibility Drawing Classes

What could be better than taking an affordable art class in a beautiful, historic building? This five-week course will teach students to draw their own still-lifes, portraits and landscape motifs à la Cézanne. The course will be taught by Katherine Hilden on Wednesday evenings in July in the Max Kade Room at The Athenaeum.

Katherine Hilden is an artist and teacher who has exhibited her paintings, drawings and prints here and in Europe. She works from the face, figure and still-life and also in the pure abstract manner. A few years ago she was so smitten by Cézanne that she went on a pilgrimage to Aix-en-Provence, where he was born and where he devoted himself to painting and drawing—in a radically new way. She believes that making an effort to understand Cézanne helps us understand who we are as moderns. Picasso and Braque called him “the father of us all.”

Supplies will be available at a discounted price.

Please note, this is a five-week course and registration covers all five classes.
