Spend your fall weekends enjoying all of the cultural festivities Downtown has to offer. From biergartens at Oktoberfest, to dragon and lion dancers at the Indianapolis Chinese Festival, there is a festival for everyone to enjoy this fall.
The annual Indy Jazz Fest runs through Sept. 22 throughout various locations in Downtown Indianapolis. Enjoy a Jazz Concert at IUPUI, shows at The Cabaret and more as the event provides a 10-day lineup celebrating the legacy of jazz. Ticket prices vary depending on the event.
Be Irish for a weekend! The 23rd annual Indy Irish Fest takes place in Military Park Sept. 14 – 16. Attendees can enjoy live Irish music, indulge in plenty ‘o Irish food, participate in a kilted mile run/walk, shop the Irish market or attend a Sunday Celtic Mass. Tickets are $10 in advance; $15 at gate; $5 for kids 5 – 13, military and IBEW members.
Take in the Circle City Classic Celebration Sept. 21 & 22, complete with a spectacular parade, pep rally and cabaret. Howard University takes on Bethune-Cookman University in this annual tradition at Lucas Oil Stadium that Saturday.
Celebrate Latin Cultures at Fiesta Familia Sunday, Sept. 23 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. at The Children’s Museum. Enjoy special music, art and culture from places including Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Mexico, Chile and Belize. Admission is FREE.
The annual Indianapolis Chinese Festival celebrates the Chinese Moon Festival. Guests can sample authentic Chinese and Asian food, watch tai chi and martial arts demonstrations and try your hand at Chinese games Saturday, Sept. 29 from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. at IUPUI’s Wood Plaza. Admission is FREE.
Calling all art lovers! Come out to the Monument Circle Art Fair on Monument Circle Saturday, Oct. 6 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. Enjoy regional artists and musical entertainment as artwork is showcased throughout the day. Admission is FREE.
The Heartland International Film Festival will WOW audiences Oct. 11 – 21 featuring 213 independent films, 215 visiting filmmakers and 300 film screenings.
Discover your inner German and head to the Original and Fabulous German Fest at the Athenaeum Saturday, Oct. 13 from noon – 8 p.m. Celebrate with dancing, German bier and food, music, Wiener dog races, vendors, children’s activities, crafts and more. Tickets are $8 for adults and $3 for kids 10 and younger, in advance. All proceeds from this event benefit the maintenance and care of the historic Athenaeum.
What better way to welcome the fall weather than with a pint of beer, live music and your favorite German good?
Sept. 14, 5 – 11 p.m.: Monument Circle Oktoberfest boasts an authentic German Biergarten, traditional German foods and live music by the band Polkaboy. Admission is FREE.
Sept. 15, noon – 6 p.m.: Rooftop Garden Oktoberfest at Fountain Square Theatre will have Bratwurst and Knackwurst from Claus’ German Sausage & Meats, as well as cold German beer and Upland Oktoberfest on tap to wash down other Oktoberfest favorites.
Sept. 29, 3 – 9 p.m.: Herron-Morton Oktoberfest at Herron Morton Place Park will have local beer, mead, live music and some of Indy’s best food trucks. Admission is $15, $10 for 21 and under and FREE for kids 12 and under.
