Take heart Indy: do Valentine’s Day Downtown

Bring your significant other Downtown for a night of dancing, dinner or live music this Valentine’s week.

Dine out, dance or do both!
Grab your dancing shoes and head to the historic Fountain Square Theatre Building Feb. 8 for Friday Night Swing Dance. Take a dance lesson at 7:30 p.m. then stay for live entertainment from 7:30 – 11:30 p.m. with some of the hottest swing bands around. Dancing only is $12 or $14 with lessons.

Get up and groove after dinner at the Love is All You Need dinner at The Rathskeller Wednesday, Feb. 14. This event includes a three-course meal starting at 6 p.m. followed by a performance from First Time Caller Band from 7 – 10 p.m. Tickets are $100 per couple.

Celebrate Valentine's Day with treats from the tropics including chocolate and coffee, all while enjoying the candlelit romantic atmosphere at Garfield Park’s Conservatory. Sweets for Your Sweetie takes place Feb. 14 from 6:30 – 8 p.m. and 8 – 9:30 p.m. and is $10.

Bring your chocolate cravings to the Nestle Inn Everything Chocolate Cooking Class and take home some chocolate. RSVP for this popular class taking place Feb. 14 at 6:30 p.m. for $85.

For the 28th consecutive year, White Castle is taking reservations for Valentine’s Day at select locations in Indianapolis. You and your date can have a night to remember for $30 or less.

Renew your love
Stop by the Indianapolis City Market on Valentine’s Day for Sharing the Love wedding vow renewal ceremony. The celebration will include cake, punch, a picture station, live entertainment, coupons to City Market merchants and more. The ceremony begins at 10:30 a.m. and couples are welcome to remain afterwards.

Shows and performances
Country music icons, Brothers Osborne, are heading to Old National Centre for a Valentine’s Day performance you won’t want to miss. The duo will be performing their biggest hits at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $35. Or head to Bankers Life Fieldhouse Feb. 14 for an unforgetable concert: Cher’s Here We Go Again Tour at 7:30 p.m. Tickets start at $58.

Musical sensation, The Tenors are putting on three shows at Hilbert Circle Theatre. Catch two performances Feb. 15 at 11 a.m. and 8 p.m. and the final show Feb. 16 at 8 p.m. Tickets start at $104.

Take your Valentine to see the exciting IRT Celebrity Radio Show hosted by the Indiana Repertory Theatre Feb. 15. at 6:30 p.m. Don’t miss this on-of-a-kind fundraising event starting at $175.

Younger Valentines can enjoy Valentine’s Day Cabaretat Peewinkle’s Puppet Studio Feb. 10 – 13.  Marionettes include magical music boxes, a dancing ostrich, butterflies and more. Tickets are $13 and FREE for children under two.

Was Abraham Lincoln a babe? Join the “Abe the Babe” discussion with a guest speaker to celebrate Abe’s 210th birthday and an early Valentine’s Day Tuesday, Feb. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Indiana State Museum. This event is for ages 21+ with drinks and snacks available for purchase. Tickets are $15.

If you prefer Downtown Indy’s nightlife, head to Howl at the Moon Friday, Feb. 15 for the Naughty or Nice Party starting at 7 p.m. Enjoy drink specials, games, live music and more. Date night table packages are available.

Nothing says Valentine’s Day better than Monster Jam. Take your fan to Lucas Oil Stadium Saturday, Feb. 9 or Sunday, Feb. 10 to witness Bounty Hunter, Grave Digger, Stone Crusher and many more. Tickets start at $15.  VIP Pit Party is an additional $15.

Find love-ly art
The Indiana State Museum is hosting its annual Indiana Art Fair Feb. 9 & 10 from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. showcasing an array of art made in Indiana. More than 60 artists from 28 of Indiana’s counties will be represented. The Art fair is included with museum admission.

Winter Escape
Indulge in a floral paradise with Orchids at Newfields. For the first time ever, Orchids will be installed in the gallery spaces at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.  Fresh, simple accent arrangements will bloom near sitting spaces Feb. 8 – March 3. The show continues in the Madeline F. Elder Greenhouse with three dedicated spaces featuring bonsais with Japanese orchids, orchids of Asia and tropical varieties.

Couples who run can participate in the Be My Valentine Cupcake 5K Run/Walk at the Athenaeum Saturday, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. for $35 which includes a cupcake, beer/wine, large fleece blanket and more. Runners can also try the party/one-mile fun Cupid’s Undie Run Feb. 9 at noon for $40 - $50 benefitting Neurofibromatosis. The Lovestruck Run 5K Sunday, Feb. 10 is catered for all singles and couples, starting at 255 S. Meridian St., $30 - $70.
