R&R Barber and Beauty Salon, a multicultural, upscale barber and beauty salon, found its perfect niche in the Circle Centre Mall. After just two years in business, the salon has already been named one of the top Salons and Barber Shops in Indianapolis and does not plan on slowing down anytime soon.
Owner, Rafael Coleman, knew that there was something missing in Indianapolis. Inspired by the city, he funneled his passion into creating a welcoming environment for anyone who entered.
“I chose the Downtown area to open my business because I saw a need for a multicultural salon and barber shop,” said Coleman. “We pride ourselves on being very inviting to all walks of life, as well as being easy on the wallet without compromising our clients’ hair care services. Downtown Indianapolis has shown itself to be a very rapid growing, diverse, fast-paced evolving area, and I wanted to be in the middle of that type of growth.”

R & R is more than just a salon. Coleman knows what a good hairstyle can give a person and wants everyone to leave feeling more confident inside and out.
“I find that when you look your best you tend to do your best. I want the experience at our salon to instill a sense of appreciation and value into each of our clients. Because of the climate we live in now, I believe it is so important to make people feel special and applaud their uniqueness,” said Coleman.
The clients are not the only ones being inspired and fulfilled through their experience at the salon. The connection goes deeper because of the cultural diversity that R & R welcomes.
“My favorite thing about my salon is the multicultural clientele base we cater to. It is so interesting to hear the unique conversations and point of views that resonate from each person that sits in our chair.” said Coleman.
Coleman has had lots of past experience in the business and understands the inner workings of salons. This insider knowledge allowed him to create a salon with everything he thought was missing from most salons and more.
“After working for years inside other hair salons and barber shops, I saw there was room for improvement within our urban style hair establishments. A better way to conduct business was needed. I was motivated to create a salon that is highly professional and passionate about giving every client a premium hair care service. Thanks to that passion, R &R was born,” Coleman said.
Coleman is proud to be living his dream in a city that shares his diverse goals.
“I think what makes Downtown Indy special is its six unique Cultural Districts, each bursting with pride from its residents and frequent visitors: The Canal and White River State Park, Fountain Square, Indiana Avenue, Market East, Mass Ave and Wholesale District,” said Coleman. “I’m very glad to be a part of that atmosphere.”
