As we all try to shake off the wintery cold and recoup from college midterms, the spring season brings us more opportunity to get out and explore Downtown Indianapolis. Indy has a legendary sporting atmosphere and sports are known to be one of Hoosier’s favorite pastimes. Downtown Indy hosts many sporting events from minor league hockey games to the Indy 500. When you’re ready to get out and explore all that Indy has to offer, make sure to check out these local sporting events. 

1. Indy Fuel Game – April 5

Indy’s hockey season is coming to a close. The Indy Fuel takes on the Fort Wayne Komets for their final home game of the 2019 season. Grab a front row seat to the intense game for $42 per ticket or opt for the college-budget friendly tickets starting as low as $15 each. 

2. Indiana Pacers Final Home Game – April 7

Like the Indy Fuel, the Indiana Pacers regular season is coming to an end. Not only can you watch them take on the Brooklyn Nets, but you can also indulge in the new culinary options available at Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Local Indianapolis restaurants like Mimi Blue Meatballs and Jack’s Donuts are now a part of the menu options offering the perfect amount of Instagram-able cuisine. The tickets for the final regular season game start at $13 each and offer an inexpensive night out with friends and family. 

3. Indianapolis Indians Opening Game – April 11

Ready to get out of your dorm and shake off those winter blues? Head to Downtown Indy for the opening game of the Indianapolis Indians season to get back into a spring season state of mind. Due to Victory Field’s prime location, enjoy an easy walk to Circle Centre Mall for some shopping or to the Canal Walk to further explore the beauty of Downtown before or after game time. Victory Field offers lawn seating and reserved seating. Tickets to the opening game start at $17 per ticket. 

4. Indy Eleven Game – May 1

Indianapolis’ professional soccer team, Indy Eleven, has become a new favorite to watch. Fans were selling out IUPUI’s Carroll Stadium so quickly that the matches are now held in Lucas Oil Stadium. You can watch Indy Eleven take on the Tampa Bay Rowdies May 1st at 7pm. Tickets for matches start at $15. 

5. Indianapolis 500 – May 26

Known as the largest single-day sporting event in the world, The Indianapolis 500, brings racing fans and non-racing fans in from all over the country. Throw on your vintage tees and head out to experience that classic 70s rock concert experience our parents always brag about. One of the most recognized rock bands of all time, Foreigner, kicks off the race weekend on Miller Lite Carb Day on May 24th. This event is followed by the Legends Day Concert headlined by the Zac Brown Band on May 25th. Perhaps one of the most exciting parts of the Indy 500 for young adjust is the Snake Pit, which admits each person into the race and concert. There are general admission tickets available for the Indianapolis 500 race and other Memorial Day weekend events hosted at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway starting at $40 per ticket.
