The bittersweet month of August is here, and while simple summer pleasures are numbered, Downtown Indy is bringing back offerings for all to enjoy. Use this list to check off some must-do August virtual and in-person events with a few of your favorite people.

Indy Eleven Back in Action

Indy Eleven is back home with a season you don’t want to miss, especially as the team heats up in August. (Home games are Aug. 1 & 15.) Check out the 2020 Schedule to cheer on our Boys in Blue at Lucas Oil Stadium surrounded by the excitement and passion of soccer in the Circle City with season or single-game tickets.

Downtown Indy Moving Forward – Now. Together. With Vigor.

The state of Downtown remains in crisis, but the rebound has begun. Downtown Indy, Inc furthers a critical Downtown recovery conversation with the 2020 State of Downtown Part 2 on Aug. 27 at 4 p.m. Part One outlined the value along with the challenges of Downtown, setting the stage for the latest game plan to advance Downtown. Tune in virtually to be part of the conversation and the solution.

Rev Your Engines for the Indy 500

The “Greatest Spectacle in Racing.” The Indianapolis 500. The race tradition continues with the final practice for the Indy 500 and the Indy 500 Pit Stop Competition at Miller Lite Carb Day Friday, Aug. 21.

While the 104th Running of the Indianapolis 500 presented by Gainbridge on Aug. 23 may look a bit different in 2020, fans won’t miss the roar of 33 engines at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway. For the first time, Indy race fans not in attendance will be able to watch the 200 highly-anticipated laps around the infamous Oval on WTHR-13.

Tembo Camp: Connect to Something Bigger

Nothing tops off the summer season like a trip to the Indianapolis Zoo, especially with the newly-opened Tembo Camp. At Tembo Camp, you can experience the majesty of the African elephant herd in a new way and even touch these gentle giants. Reserve your tickets to meet the largest land animals on earth up-close and leave with memories to last a lifetime.

Barbie, You Can Be Anything

Calling all Barbie enthusiasts. You can be a pilot, a surfer, an engineer – the possibilities are endless with ‘Barbie You Can Be Anything: The Experience’ at The Children’s Museum. This new exhibit, premiering Aug. 1, is perfect for the kiddos to celebrate Barbie’s legacy and explore  dreams. The Children’s Museum is open 10 a.m. – 5 p.m. daily, so there is plenty of time to grab your tickets and spend a day with Barbie.
