Black History Month

Celebrate Black History Month by recognizing and appreciating the heritage, accomplishments and culture of African Americans. Here are just a sampling of events that you can attend in Downtown Indy:

Art & Soul

The Arts Council of Indianapolis hosts a celebration with a series of free, daily performances. More than 150 local artists will perform starting Feb. 1 at the Art & Soul Kickoff Celebration and will continue throughout February (Wednesday — Saturday) at the Artsgarden.

Valentine’s Day Highlights

Take your sweetheart Downtown for Valentine’s Day.

Fall in love over and over again to the sounds of the Indianapolis Symphony Orchestra. Immerse yourselves in the orchestra’s performance while watching the classic romantic film, Casablanca at the Hilbert Circle Theatre on Valentine’s Day.

Grab your partner and dance the night away to some of the hottest swing bands around at the historic Fountain Square Theatre Building for Friday Night Swing Dance. If you’re worried about your dance skills, you can take a dance lesson at 7:30 p.m. then stay for live entertainment. For those who are looking for more of a nightlife scene, check out Howl at the Moon’s Valentine’s Day Party. Enjoy drink specials, date night packages, live music and much more.

Share the Love at the Indianapolis City Market on Valentine’s Day to renew your wedding vows. The ceremony will include live music, Valentine’s card writing station, a decorative photo booth and cupcakes from City Market merchant Simply Divine Cupcakes.

Monster Jam, the world’s largest and most famous monster truck tour will be stopping at Lucas Oil Stadium on Feb. 8 & 9.  Bring the whole family out to experience this unexpected, unscripted and unforgettable event.

Shen Yun will enchant you with its beauty and enlightening wisdom. It features one of the world’s oldest art forms— classical Chinese dance—along with all-original orchestral works at the Old National Centre Saturday, Feb. 8 & 9.

Don’t miss out on one of music’s best artists. GRAMMY® Award-nominated, Post Malone will be performing his Runaway Tour with Swae Lee & Tyla Yaweh at Bankers Life Fieldhouse Feb. 9.

The Motels are heading to Old National Centre for a TOTALLY 80s LIVE! performance. The band will be playing their biggest hits on Feb. 14 at 8 p.m.

Get your disco fever on at Karneval at the Athenaeum Feb. 15. All ages are welcome to enjoy dancing, food, door prizes and a costume contest. Try the German beer (for those 21 and older)!
